This website is based on a scrapbook compiled by Percy G. Hallam who seems to have been a Commercial Representative of a company called Bulbring Hardware Merchants, operating out of Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, South Africa.

In this website we will concentrate on the following themes
- Percy G. Hallam: Who was he, where did he come from, what did he do. Between 1899 & 1902 he was living quite dangerously being 1 step in front or 1 step behind the conflicts of the Boer Wars
- Bulbring Hardware Merchants: We know they were located somewhere on Main Street, Port Elizabeth, we even have their P.O. Box number, but little else. The company must have been quite substantial, as administering Percy Hallam's journeys seems to have involved a lot of administration.
- Port Elizabeth: Was already a large thriving city in 1900.
- The Scrapbook: Throughout the narrative of the website we will include the relevant details from the scrapbook as we follow the journey of Percy Hallam across the countryside, and the progression of the Boer War.
- The Boer War: Here will be a 2 pronged description; one in a summary of the Boer Wars, as well as a focus on individual conflicts within the overall war in relation to Percy Hallam's travels. For example he was in Mafeking shortly after its relief.
